Vayu cools Indore for now, temperature down by 4 degrees

After hovering over 40 degree Celsius mark for the past few weeks, temperature in Indore dropped four degrees on Thursday as a result of the effect of storm Vayu which touched Gujarat coast in the afternoon. The storm brought in high amount of moisture in western part of Madhya Pradesh including Malwa-Nimar leading to a drop in temperature and cloudy sky over the region.

INDORE: After hovering over 40 degree Celsius mark for the past few weeks, temperature in Indore dropped four degrees on Thursday as a result of the effect of storm Vayu which touched Gujarat coast in the afternoon. The storm brought in high amount of moisture in western part of Madhya Pradesh including Malwa-Nimar leading to a drop in temperature and cloudy sky over the region.

The maximum temperature in Indore dropped to 37.6 degree one degree above average, which was recorded at 41 degree on Wednesday. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degree as compared to 29 degree on Wednesday. Rainfall was recorded in traces by Meteorological department in Indore throughout the day.
The weather department has predicted chances of rain and thunderstorm over the Malwa-Nimar region on Friday and Saturday as well, after which effect of the storm will subside leading to rise in temperature.
“However, the temperature will not reach till 45- 46 degrees as one or other system will continue to bring in light rains and moisture into the region. The monsoon is likely to set in Malwa-Nimar around June 25,” Indian Meteorological department official from Bhopal said.
In other districts like Shajapur, Ujjain, Gwalior, Bhopal as well, the maximum temperature was recorded below 40 degree Celsius. In Khandwa, Khargone and Dhar, the temperatures remained above 40 degree, however it was marginally lower than the maximum temperature on Wednesday in all three districts.
The relative humidity across the region was also quite high on Thursday. In Indore, the humidity in the morning was 66 per cent, whereas the relative humidity in the evening was 38 per cent.
While in the western part of Madhya Pradesh the effect of Vayu led to cooling down of temperature, in the eastern Madhya Pradesh rainfall activities were observed due to the cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
