ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister, Chowna Mein, who also holds the finance portfolio, said that the 2019-20 budget for the state will be focussing on the road communication, education, health and agriculture-horticulture sectors. The budget is set to be tabled in the forthcoming assembly session scheduled in the first week of July.
Chowna Mein termed budget preparation a 'big exercise' and appreciated the community-based organisations (CBOs) for their interest in helping the government in the exercise.
Calling for suggestions and interventions by CBOs in implementation of schemes and projects, he suggested that the state should do away with individual-centric schemes.
Earlier on Tuesday, chief minister Pema Khandu held a detailed discussion with CBOs on the scope of the budget. Health, roads (particularly the completion of the Trans-Arunachal Highway), development of Itanagar as a model city, anti-insurgency operations, infrastructure in border areas and newly-created districts remained the focus-area of the meet.
