Five fresh cases push up Arunachal Pradesh Covid count to 187

Five fresh cases, including three from the worst-affected Changlang district, took the Covid-19 count in Arunachal Pradesh to 187, a senior health official said here on Tuesday. The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 121.

ITANAGAR: Five fresh cases, including three from the worst-affected Changlang district, took the Covid-19 count in Arunachal Pradesh to 187, a senior health official said here on Tuesday. The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 121.
The three persons who tested positive in Changlang returned from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, while the two positive cases detected in the state capital were frontlilne workers, and both of whom are asymptomatic, state surveillance officer Dr L Jampa said.

"Samples of primary contacts of the two persons have been collected and sent for testing," he said.
All cases have been detected from quarantine centres and were asymptomatic, he said.
On Monday, a patient from Changlang district was released after his swab samples tested negative two consecutive times, Dr Jampa said, adding that he was advised 14-day home quarantine and self monitoring.
A total of 61 people have recovered from the disease in the state so far. A woman from West Kameng district died of the infection. Changlang is the worst-hit district with 54 active cases, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (40) and West Kameng (12).
To date, 23,709 swab samples were tested, of which results of 1,612 are awaited.
