ITANAGAR: As the third phase of
lockdown kicked in from Monday with several
relaxations, people in
Arunachal Pradesh came out of their homes as non-essential stores lifted shutters. There has been a noticeable increase in road traffic in Itanagar as people were seen making beelines outside liquor shops.
"Customers are coming in large numbers to purchase liquor. However, as we are running low on stocks, we cannot fulfil their requirements," Rinku Bora, owner of a wine shop at O Point Tinali here, said.
He added that things will become normal in a day or two. A similar situation was also witnessed outside tobacco and pan shops in the state capital where people queued up to get their cigarettes.
Speaking on the importance of maintaining social distancing norms despite relaxations being lifted, chief minister
Pema Khandu tweeted, "Though restrictions are relaxed in #Lockdown3,
challenges still remain. Till there is no cure for #COVID19, we have to learn to live with it. To prepare ourselves for these very challenges, convened a cabinet sitting today on post May 4 lockdown implementation plan in Arunachal." tnn
