Ailing cow dies in Jaipur, people create ruckus
JAIPUR: Ruckus was created by a few people who broke the windshields of animal ambulance and shouted slogans against the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) after a cow died on Baba Harishchandra Marg, in the Walled City area on Thursday evening.
The police detained about nine people for the ruckus, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Kotwali Sumit Kumar informed TOI that the incident took place in the afternoon after an ailing cow died.
“People alleged they had called the civic body to rush an ambulance to the area where the cow was suffering. But the vehicle arrived late and by that time the cow had died,” ACP Kumar told TOI.
When the JMC vehicle arrived, the protesters broke its windshield and punctured the tyre. Later, when another vehicle of the JMC which was on duty to catch stray dogs was passing through the area, the protesters stopped the vehicle and damaged it.
The protestrrs then sat on a dharna and did not allow JMC officials from taking away the carcass. Later, police teams arrived in the area and detained the protesters. “We picked up the carcass so that traffic could pass through. The protesters were taken to the Kotwali police station for creating ruckus,” Kumar said.
The protesters demanded that a case should be registered against JMC officials for failing to save the life of a cow. The JMC officials also reached the police station after their staffers informed them about the ugly scenes that took place in the area.
“The JMC officials have told us that they will file a case against the protesters for preventing them from doing their official duty,” Kumar said, adding that situation was under control after the police teams were deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
