Bureaucratic reshuffle likely to take place soon
Chief secretary D B Gupta
JAIPUR: As the new government is going to take over in Rajasthan on Monday, there are talks about bureaucratic reshuffle in the government, with a few names doing the rounds within the political circle of the state.
With veteran Congress leader Ashok Gehlot going to assume the chief minister's post for a third term, it is learnt from the sources that the names of Kuldeep Ranka, Naresh Pal Gangwar and P K Goyal are under consideration for the post of principal secretary to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

While Ranka is principal secretary to forest and environment, tourism, art and culture departments, Gangwar is principal secretary to school education department and Goyal is additional chief secretary, UDH department.
Currently, Tanmay Kumar is the principal secretary to the CMO, who had come under attack from Gehlot for "acting as a de-facto CM" in absence of Vasundhara Raje. It is also learnt that chief secretary D B Gupta could be replaced by Mukesh Kumar Sharma, additional chief secretary (Finance), who is next in line in terms of seniority.
"When a new government comes, transfer of IAS officers do take place. It is a routine process. There are speculations about a few names. But, thousands have gathered at Gehlot's residence. Even he doesn't have time now. The MLAs, too, don't have any clue who all are becoming ministers. The new CMO team will also be appointed," said a senior IAS officer.
There is a general feeling in the Secretariat about the transfer of IAS officers and some are even cautious about it. Senior officials also say talks about transfers will begin only after the oath-taking ceremony. Apart from that old and personal files were being dumped at the Secretariat before the new government could take over.

"Usually the personal files, personal letters and documents are dumped when there is a change in government. The government and official files are not destroyed. The old name plates and letter-heads are also destroyed,' said an official.
In October, five IAS officers of Rajasthan cadre had applied for deputation at the Centre. The officers who sought deputation at the centre are V Srinivas, Neel Kamal Darbari, Shubhra Singh, Rajat Mishra and T Ravikanth.
The finance department has sanctioned installation of 279 tube wells in Jaipur to meet the problem of water shortage in the city. "The work will start from next month and the project will be implemented soon," said PHED Principal Secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra.
