Cong corners govt over crime, farmers’ suicide
Jaipur: Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday expressed concern over safety of women and suicide of farmers in the state.
She said that Rajasthan is at fifth spot in crime against women from 2014 to 2016. The state had witnessed 86,862 cases of crimes against women from 2014-2016, which is 9% of total cases of crimes against women in the country.
The population of the state is 5.5% of the country. She said that in India, 9,57,690 cases of crimes against women came to light.
She said that the state is at 5th place in dowry deaths. In rape cases, the state ranked fourth. Estimated figures of rape across shows that 36,000 cases of rape are being reported in the country but 10% of them happening in the state, which is 10% of such cases happening in the state.
She said that the condition of farmers is not good. Hundred farmers had committed suicide who were under the burden of debt.
Besides, she also pointed out that the BJP government has destroyed 350 temples for Metro train construction work. Moreover, she alleged that cows are not safe. Thousands of cows died in government-run Gaushala due to unavailability of fodder, water and treatment. It is happening at a time when the government is taking cow cess as 10% on stamp duty.
