Jaipur: Cosmetics company operating without licence unearthed

JAIPUR: A firm manufacturing cosmetics items was unearthed by team of state’s drug controller officers which was operational without procuring any licence under Drug and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
Drug controller Rajaram Sharma said that the firm was illegally producing cosmetics at Mandore Industrial area in Jodhpur. The owner of the firm did not have any licence for production of cosmetics under Drug and Cosmetic Act.
It was a full-fledge factory of cosmetics which was producing shower gel, shampoo, skin lotion and other such products. The officers have seized bottles of shampoo without having any label on it, stock of empty bottles and stock of chemicals used for producing shampoo. The owner of the firm was supplying the shampoo to a Jodhpur-based hotel.
He said that they are taking action against the accused firm for producing cosmetic items without any licence.
Besides, a raid was conducted in Jaipur too where the drug controller officers have unearthed an illegal clinic. At the clinic, the officials found allopathic medicines including antibiotic, pain killers, medicines used for treatment of skin ailments, intravenous fluid and other medicines used for treatment of common cold and cough. The officials seized medicines worth Rs40,000. The officials claimed that the clinic was operated by a person, who was not a qualified allopathic doctor.
In another raid in Jaipur’s Jhotwara area, the team of drug controller raided a firm producing surgical spirit. The firm was allegedly using distilled water in surgical spirit in place of methylated spirit. Sharma said that licence of the firm has been cancelled.
Besides, in Beawar, the drug controller conducted a raid in Somnath colony. The officials collected samples of 19 different medicines for testing.
