JAIPUR: Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena’s wife Golma Devi has expressed her wish to contest Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket from Dausa on Friday. The demand came a day after BJP had announced its first list, including 16 from Rajasthan.
Golma met BJP party in-charge (elections) Prakash Javadekar at BJP headquarters. She pitched her candidature on grounds of a popular support for her family has in Dausa. Explaining her reasons to contest LS polls, she said, “I was forced to contest Vidhan Sabha polls in 2018 despite I refused several times.
I accepted party’s request and contested from a very difficult seat. I lost elections due to the negative role played by the rebels.”
She further explains that how her defeat four months ago will pave the way for victory in the LS polls. Devi said, “The defeat has created a sympathy wave for me and for my family in the entire eastern Rajasthan. If I am given the ticket from Dausa the sympathy wave will ensure my victory.”
She cautioned BJP that some rebels and outsiders are demanding ticket from Dausa. “Such people shouldn’t be given a ticket else the party will suffer,” said Devi.
