JAIPUR: With their excellent performance, the students of Pink City made a mark in the Top 100 of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) results announced on Wednesday.
It is one of the rare occasions when students outside Kota displayed such an excellent result. All of them had studied at ALLEN Career Institute, Jaipur. Megha Gupta, who bagged AIR 44, revealed that staying away from social media and not making any friends did the trick.

“This was my second attempt so I was determined to crack the exam. Last year, I was involved with my friends and used to seek their guidance and try to get involved in their problems. This year, I stayed focused, listened to the advice of only my teachers and parents. There were times when I faced depression but coped up by being more focused. I would suggest students to just focus on NCERT and coaching materials which will help them till the end,” she said.
Another Jaipur boy Mohit Sharma, who bagged AIR 91, said, “I have always had an affinity towards the medical field. I am from Beawar but my parents fully supported me to go to Jaipur to achieve my dreams. I tried to study 6-7 hours every day but because of my health issues I often lagged behind, however, my coaching centre supported me throughout and contributed a lot in my success.”
Sharma found the NEET entrance comparatively easier but says that a mere thumb impression on his OMR sheet cost him 3 marks which set him back by 400 ranks. Despite this, he is very happy with his result in AIIMS and says, “I am looking forward to a future in the medical field. Right now I don’t have a specific stream in mind but I’m sure as I progress further in my studies, I will find my area of interest.”
Another student Nishant Soni, AIIMS AIR 83, who dreams to be a cardiologist, says that he wants to pursue medical because his mother is a nurse. His father is a lecturer who got transferred to Nagaur but his mother stayed back with him so that she could help him focus on his studies. “My mother was my main support system. This journey was difficult as I was under pressure but with constant hard work I was finally able to achieve my desired result. Self-study is very important and after classes I used to study 7-8 hours,” said Soni.
Nalin Khandelwal, topper in NEET-2019 result declared last week, achieved AIR 73 and Tapish Sharma got AIR 32.
