JAIPUR: With around 200 boosters seized across Jaipur city by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to curb stealing of water and to mitigate water crisis, Jaipur collectorate in its recent order stated that "there will be power cut for half-an-hour each day in those areas where there is predominant use of booster pumps during supply time", to ensure minimum supply of water to all the consumers.

The booster-seizing drive in the city has been going on since April 20, 2019.
In its letter, dated May 29, to superintendent engineer JVVNL, the office of the district collector stated that due to shortage of water supply from Bisalpur dam, there has been 30 per cent cut in the supply of water. "As a result of this, the maximum use of boosters in populated areas led to hardly any supply of water to the consumers in the tail end areas," it stated. The letter further stated, in view of this, there will be power-cut for 30 minutes in the areas where there is use of boosters to ensure supply of water to the consumers.
The populated areas include Walled City, Shastri Nagar (Bhatta Basti), Sodala and others. The
Additional chief engineer PHED Devraj Solanki said, "The district collectorate has already issued the order to ensure power cut for half-an-hour in areas where there is predominant use of boosters. So far, around 200 boosters have been seized."
"The collector takes a weekly review meeting on Monday and that is represented by the three SEs - district and two SEs (superintendent engineers) from the city. Water crisis has been mitigated to a large extent. We have drilled more than 500 tube wells in Jaipur city. About 390 have already been made operational. There are no reports of a huge crisis anywhere," he added.
Meanwhile, Jaipur collector Jagroop Yadav said, "There is no crisis as such in the district. There are minor issues here and there. We conduct a weekly review meeting on Monday to assess the situation. Situation is under control now. The PHED had informed us that they seized around 200 boosters in the city. They should continue with the booster-seizing drive across the city."
