JAIPUR: A special POCSO court-3 on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to a private school paedophile teacher who was accused of rape, abuse and blackmailing more than 50 children.
School owner Sarwar Alam, who was accused of not informing the police about it, was acquitted by the court.
The court has also imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the convicted teacher. While pronouncing the judgement, the judge said that such cases cannot be dealt with leniency.
The teacher Rameez Raja was arrested on February 9, 2017, by Ramganj police. After the investigation, Ramganj police presented the challan in the court on April 28, 2017.
During the hearing, 21 witnesses were presented before the court.
At that time, livid residents of Ramganj had taken out a rally against the school teacher demanding strict action from the police. He was also accused of filming 50 pornographic clippings of young boys. He was accused of sexually abusing children from 2011 to 2017.
The private school is situated in Char Darwaza area of Ramganj. Apart from teaching in the private school, he called the students at his home for tuition. He has also captured videos of the incidents. He used to blackmail the children by demanding money and threatening to make the videos public. He also threatened the children of failing them in the examination.
There were children, who were sexually abused, brought to the court for their statements.
While pronouncing the judgement, special POCSO court-3 judge Rajeshkumar Singhal termed the act of the accused as deadly for the society, adding that parents sent their children to teachers hoping for their better future. But, the act of Raja was a blot on the noble teaching profession, which is why there was no scope of leniency toward him. For setting an example, a strict judgement is necessary in such cases.
