JAIPUR: Firing incidents continue unabated in the Pink city. Miscreants shot at least three rounds of fire in the air on late Saturday night in Sanjay Circle area of the city.
SHO Dinesh Kumar informed TOI that one Imran had filed a complaint that four miscreants who came in an SUV, fired three to four rounds in quick succession in the air. The incident trigged panic in the congested lanes, following which police reached the spot.

“A dispute preceded the shooting incident. Imran had a heated discussion with one of the accused earlier in the same day. Following this, the accused returned with others and opened fire in the air,” added another official.
The police have retrieved the CCTV footage from nearby areas but the accused remains at large. The incident marks a second firing in the city in less than 24 hours. On Saturday evening, an accused in Pratap Nagar had vandalised a swimming pool, before firing two rounds in the air to terrorize the swimming pool owner.
The police informed TOI that arms are pouring into the city, due to which there is a sudden spike in firing incidents in the city. For instance, the police on Saturday night arrested four accused and seized firearms, cartridges from them near Bassi.
The police said that several of the city’s history-sheeters are scouting for weapons. “There is growing rivalry between small gangs. Hence, they use firearms to scare each other,” said an official.

A series of firing incidents have rocked the city of late. Recently, on May 25, bike-borne gunmen fired two rounds at a businessman in Barkat Nagar area. They waylaid businessman Satish Kumar Bansal outside his house and had tried to snatch Bansal’s bag in vain, as the latter held it tight.
On May 29, unidentified shooters shot at a DJ shop in Jhotwara. While the accused involved in the crimes have been arrested, the police saisd that easy availability of illegal guns remains a source of worry.
It can be recalled that on Friday too a dispute over drinking water from a public water tank in Kanota area of the city turned violent when a group of neighbours allegedly fired at locals.
The additional DCP (East) had also confirmed that some people had fired in the air following the dispute and efforts are afoot to arrest the accused. According to Kanota sub-inspector, Ramdhan Meena, some residents of Ram Krishna Nagar area of Jamdoli alleged that some unidentified neighbours opened fire at them, following a heated argument over the water distribution.
