Pulwama encounter: Rajasthan braveheart Kishan Singh martyred

JAIPUR: Kishan Singh Rajput of Tehsil Bhichri in Ratangarh was martyred while taking on the terrorists in Pulwama district on Saturday.
As the news came in that terrorists have sneaked into Pulwama area in the wee hours, the 55 Rashtriya Rifles battalion became active. “The battalion, including Kishan Singh, marched to the Siron village at 4am and the operation started at 7am.
He soon killed the dreaded terrorist Zahoor Thakor. While combating, one bullet pierced his body, killing him,” said an army officer.
Three terrorists were killed in the operation which lasted for 30 minutes.
“Singh showed bravery and killed Thakor who was involved in several terror acts, while the other two were also killed by the Army. It is unfortunate that we lost our soldier,” said an army officer. Singh joined Army in 2009. He is survived by two sons — Dharamveer (4) and Mohit (2). Ever since the news of his martyrdom reached Jaipur, condolences poured in from all the political parties.
CM-designate Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “I salute and pay my tributes to Ratangarh, #Churu, #Rajasthan’s braveheart Sh. Kishan Singh who made supreme sacrifice for the country in #Pulwama, #JammuAndKashmir.. We all stand with the family in this moment of grief and pray that God give them strength to bear the loss.”
Dy-CM-designate Sachin Pilot, and outgoing CM Vasundhara Raje also offered condolences.
