Rain, strong winds uproot trees, affects Jaipur traffic
Commuters were caught unawares in the showers on Sunday
JAIPUR: Strong winds accompanied with showers uprooted trees in different parts of the city, adversely affecting the traffic flow.
Trees that fell down near Chomu Pulia Circle made the traffic move at snail’s pace at Jhotwara railway overbridge. Moreover, waterlogging near Chomu Pulia Circle added to the woes of the commuters.
According to the met department, city received 24mm of rainfall on Sunday.
Met department predicted that light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in the state, and also issued warning that thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in the state during next 24 hours. Isolated places may witness strong winds with a speed of 30 km per hour to 40 km per hour.
On Sunday, heavy rainfall occurred in several parts of east Rajasthan, while isolated places received light to moderate rainfall. Several parts of western Rajasthan witnessed thunderstorm.
Despite thunderstorms and rainfall, the temperature in majority of the state was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius. Bikaner recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius but Churu remained the hottest with 45.2 degree Celsius. Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer and Barmer were at 43.6 degrees, 43.5 degrees and 43 degree Celsius respectively. However, Jaipur recorded 39.5 degree Celsius.
