JAIPUR: Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted to St. Anselm’s School, Mansarovar, Jaipur for 2019-20 session.
The decision was taken on a complaint filed by a physical education teacher of St. Anselm’s School, Mansarovar, four years back to the education department. Her complaint was that she was given punishment to kneel down in class in front her students for coming late by five minutes by the school principal Father Thomas.
Investigation was pending and orders were issued on Tuesday.
District education officer Ram Chandra Pilaniya while talking to TOI said, “The decision was taken after proper investigation and a letter has been sent to CBSE in Delhi to cancel the school’s affiliation. Another letter has been sent to RBSE, Ajmer, not to accept any letter of affiliation from the school. The orders are issued on humanitarian ground of punishing the teacher in front of entire class. Along with this, we have received many complaints about the school violating norms and selling books, stationary and other articles in the school premises.”
When asked about the fate of more than 3500 students studying in school at present, he said that they can be shifted to some other school within time and their studies will not get affected by it. In the order issued, it was mentioned that Father Thomas, who was the principal that time didn’t appear in front of the committee when called upon.
Meanwhile, St. Anselm’s School present principal, father Paul while talking to TOI explained that father Thomas has gone back to Kerala to visit his ailing mother which is why he couldn’t go for personal appearance. “We will challenge the decision in Rajasthan high court. Future of more than 3000 students is at stake and we will take all possible steps we can” said Paul.
School has also issued a notice to the parents of student to not worry and they will invoke any legal remedy as soon as possible.
