JAIPUR: At least 12 girl students were injured when a portion of underground water tank at a government high secondary school collapsed amidst rainfall at Suroth village in Karauli district of the state.
Mild to moderate rainfall continued across the state on Thursday. Jaipur Met office in its forecast has also given a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the eastern Rajasthan and some parts of western Rajasthan.
The incident took place in the morning when an underground water tank caved in and collapsed.
At least 12 school girls were stuck under the debris. A rescue team rushed to the spot and bailed the trapped girls. “All the girls were injured and their condition was out of danger,” said a police office.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall continued across the state as Amet (Rajsamand) and Taranagar (Churu) received a rainfall of 100 mm, Rashmi (Chittorgarh) and Aklera 90 mm each, Sawai Madhopur 70 mm, Jodhpur 60 mm. Many places in the state also received a rainfall varying from 50 mm to 10 mm.
Jaipurites woke up to a pleasant morning as a minimum temperature of 26.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city. It was followed by a drizzling afternoon as a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city. Jaipur Met office in its forecast report said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the eastern Rajasthan while a few places in the western Rajasthan will get heavy rainfall.
