Truck overturns, falls on overloaded jeep having passengers; 4 killed 4 injured

ALWAR: Four passengers were killed while 4 others were seriously injured when a truck overturned and fall down on an overloaded jeep moving parallel to the truck at Neemrana area at the national highway no -8. Three passengers killed one the spot while on succumbed to the injuries in the hospital.
According to the police, a jeep started its journey from Behror at 6 pm on Thursday in which 15 passengers were travelling for various locations on the way from Behror to Neemrana.“Almost half-an-hour after it started a truck overturned and fell down on the jeep and all the passengers were stuck into the jeep. Some commuters who spotted it intimated the control room and a rescue team including police officers, cranes and others rushed to the spot,” said a senior police officer.
The overturned truck was removed with the help of cranes and thus the rescue team was able to take out the trapped passengers. “Three of the passengers died on the spot while one succumbed to the injuries in the hospital. The deceased were identified as Kavita(40), Bala Devi(50), Gudiya(1) and the driver of jeep Kalu Ram(34),” said an officer.
Police said that the truck was overloaded with the fodder. “It appears that the overloading could be the reason behind overturning of truck. We have registered a case against the driver of the truck who managed to flee from the scene,” said an officer.
