JAIPUR: From low water supply to no water supply, Jaipur city water problems are now aggravating with each passing day. Residents of Taranagar, Jhotwara and Bajani Talai and Sanganer protested in front of the office of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) on Monday complaining that they are not receiving water for last two weeks in their area.
Hundreds of residents gathered at Bajani Talai, PHED office complaining that they are not receiving water for a month and government had made no efforts to improve the situation.
“We have complained many times. PHED officials do not pick up calls and are never available whenever we need them. There are two water tanks in our area but water from there is supplied to other areas through tankers but it is not available for us. PHED officials later assured us that this situation will be solved very soon. We are waiting or we will again take to streets,” said Ramavtar, a resident of Bajani Talai.
In Taranagar area people said that they are paying money for tankers, the rates of which are as high as Rs 500 due to the growing demand. Resident of Taranagar, Gajraj while talking to TOI explained that for the last two weeks they have not received water in their area. “Water is supplied through two government borings in our area. However, their water level is going down and we have asked the PHED to lay down more pipes. Moreover, there is another boring in our area that is functioning illegally every day. In spite of many complaints to the department no action has been taken. We are spending money from our pockets to buy water tankers when illegal boring is functioning right under the government’s nose,” said Gajraj.
