Banker murder case: Wife, friend among five arrested

JAIPUR: Police arrested five persons for conspiracy and murder of the bank manager who was shot dead on Thursday in Kardhani locality. The arrested include wife of the deceased and her male companion. The two killers who drove a scooty and opened fire were at large. Police said that deteriorating relations of husband and wife emerged as the prime motive behind the murder conspiracy and its execution.
Roshan Lal Yadav(42) was shot dead in Kardhani locality. Since the murder, police found some clues indicating the wife’s involvement in the murder along with one missing neighbour in the locality.
“We have arrested five persons including Nirmala Yadav, wife of the deceased and her male companion Umesh Sharma. Both of them planned the murder and Umesh had initially hired two sharp-shooters whose attempt was not successful. Thereafter, Umesh asked one of his relatives to do something and the relative himself agreed for the execution of the murder,” said Ashok Gupta, deputy commissioner of police (west) while talking to TOI.
He added that in the initial investigation it was found that Nirmala was in a relationship with Umesh for past some months. “The deceased also came to know about them, especially the fact that both were sharing messages on social networking platforms. Nirmala had also told Umesh that her husband was torturing her. That’s when Umesh who hails from Uttarakhand planned to hire shooters,” Gupta added.
Umesh Sharma had been a neighbour of Roshan Lal since 2010. “In the month of April, Umesh and Nirmala conspired to get Roshan Lal killed. In April, Umesh Sharma contacted his brother Rahul Sharma and paid him Rs 4 lakh to hire contract killers but it was unsuccessful as these killers wanted more money. Finally Umesh asked his nephew Manish to get it done. Manish along with one Rahul shot the bank manager themselves,” a senior officer added.
“The arrested included Nirmala, Umesh and three others including Mahendra Pratap alias Titu, Akash Rawat and Shivkant alias Lalu for 120-B (criminal conspiracy) to be read with 302 (Murder),” the officer added.
“The accused Akash Rawat had helped Umesh hide and escape after murder, while Mahendra Pratap had arranged for weapons used in the murder,” the officer added.
The two accused who had attacked the bank manager were identified as Rahul Sharma (Umesh’s brother) and Manish (Umesh’s nephew). “Both are on our radar and would be arrested soon,” the officer added.
