JAIPUR: The firebrand Hindutva leader and
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will reach
Rajasthan on November 26 to campaign for the upcoming assembly elections. The state unit of BJP on Saturday finalized the programme for the first two days of Yogi's visit.
Yogi will address 11 rallies, out of which five are in areas where the Congress has fielded Muslim candidates.
However, rest of the six constituencies have non-Muslim candidates, but a sizeable number of Muslim voters.
Yogi will be in the state on November 26-27 as per the programme finalized till Saturday evening. "He will also address rallies on December 1 and December 2. But the programme for these days has not been finalized yet. We are working on it," said Onkar Singh Lakhawat, convener of the tour committee of BJP leaders coming to Rajasthan for campaigning.
"On November 26, he will address rallies at Makrana (Nagaur), Fatehpur (Churu), Ratangarh (Churu), Dungargarh (
Bikaner), Pokhran (
Jaisalmer). The next day, on November 27, he will address rallies at Tijara (
Alwar), Nagar (Bharatpur), Malakhera (Alwar), Ramgarh (Alwar), Thangazi (Alwar) and Jalsu (Amber)," Lakhawat said.
Interestingly, the party has opted for constituencies like Tijara, where former medical and health minister of Ashok Gehlot government, A A Khan, is the Congress candidate. Likewise, Congress has fielded Shafia Zubair at Ramgarh, Zakir Hussain at Makrana, Hakam Ali Khan at Fatehpur and Shale Mohammad at Pokhran. At Pokhran, BJP has fielded the chief of Tartar Math, Pratap Puri, while the Congress party has fielded Saleh Muhammad.
Yogi Adityanath to cover 65% of Mewat regionYogi will campaign in the constituencies of Alwar and Bharatpur, which cover 65% of the Mewat region. This is being seen as BJP’s attempt to polarize votes and play the Hindutva card. However, denying this, Lakhawat said, “We have chalked out his programme as per the directions of party leaders and in places where candidates requested us to bring him.”
