Jharkhand minor rape, murder case: Cops to seek remand of accused

JAMSHEDPUR: The accused in the rape and murder case of a minor girl would be taken on remand for questioning, said Tatanagar rail SP while speaking to TOI on Friday.
The SP said efforts are on to file the chargesheet against the accused within 10 days from the day of arrest. After the registration of the chargesheet, the minor’s mother would be handed over a compensation amount.
It may be recalled that a toddler from Puruila in West Bengal was kidnapped from Tatanagar railway station.
The kid was raped and then murdered.
The accused, one of whom is a habitual offender, to cover their crime beheaded the body and dumped outside a factory premises.
The SP added that it is an extremely heinous crime and all efforts would be made by his department to ensure justice to the mother.
Final rites of the toddler were performed on Thursday after autopsy was performed and body handed over to the kin.
Meanwhile, sources said the investigating officer (IO) in the case, Budhuram Mahato, has been replaced by Chandrabhusan Sharma. The SP said the IO was changed and a senior officer was given the charge of investigation.
