JAMSHEDPUR: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday said Jharkhand will eradicate poverty soon, largely owing to government-sponsored poverty alleviation and developmental schemes.
Das was speaking at the inauguration of Porahat Vikas Mela at Hudunda in West Singhbhhum.
Claiming that UN Development Programme report of 2019 has ranked Jharkhand first among states in India in fighting poverty, the CM said the report has come as an encouragement for the government.
Das said 14th Finance Commission funds are being adequately used for developing villages.
The CM also announced that a centralised kitchen will be set up in all districts for anganwadi centres at an expenditure of Rs 500 crore for preparing nutritional food.
He said the kitchens will run under Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society scheme and self-help groups will prepare the food.
The CM alleged that opposition parties are misleading the citizens on the issue of development and urged the people to not fall into their traps. "I have received complaints that some people are spreading lies to keep genuine beneficiaries away from schemes," Das said.
The CM instructed the police superintendent, Indrajeet Mahata, to take action against people spreading misinformation about the government and its schemes.
The CM also inaugurated 19 counters at the Vikas Mela that carried detail information pertaining to government projects and schemes operational in West Singhbhum.
Earlier, inaugurating the Charan Paduka project in the district, the CM said footwear manufactured by women volunteers at the manufacturing unit in Chaibasa will be distributed among the primitive tribes free of cost across the state.
