JAMSHEDPUR: Television actor-turned-politician Nitish Bharadwaj blamed the then Lalu government for the step-motherly treatment to south Bihar now Jharkhand. Nitish, who acted a Krishna in BR Chopra’s mega serial Mahabharata later joined politics and contested from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket in 1996. He defeated heavyweight candidate and then Bihar minister Inder Singh Namdhari by a sizeable margin.
The former MP said on Saturday that as a legislator he faced lot of trouble in the implementation of development projects as Lalu government did not cooperate with the Vajpayee government in the centre.

Nitish was in Steel City to take part in a play staged at Loyola School. He lauded Modi government for defanging Article 370. Nitish said: "Kashmir was an issue which then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee tried to solve but could not succeed as BJP had not the majority in any of the Houses," adding, in that coalition government National Conference was also a partner who was against this.
The actor said: "Modi has fulfilled the dreams of Bharatiya Jan Sangh’s founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee."
Nitish, who never visited Jamshedpur after winning the polls, when asked about his disappearance which he didn't reply on that rather said that Jamshedpur is a beautiful city to live in.
He lauded the development work done by Raghubar Das government with the assistance of Centre in Jharkhand. The former lawmaker who came to the city nearly after 22 years said he had quit politics and was involved in directing Marathi movies and plays.
