Youth carries mother’s body in arms at Jamshedpur hospital

Youth carries mother’s body in arms at Jamshedpur hospital
The MGMMCH administration tried to shift their responsibility by saying there was lack of manpower and resources.
JAMSHEDPUR: The tall talks of quality healthcare at state-run hospitals again fell flat at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. Sources said Ramesh, a resident of Rahargora in Jamshedpur, brought his mother to the hospital in an autorickshaw.
By the time Ramesh managed to reach the hospital, his mother passed away, said sources.
The auto driver was also reluctant to help the son. The driver even refused to carry the body back to home.
Ramesh tried his best to get a stretcher for his mother but there was no one to help the grieving youth. Seeing no other way out, Ramesh picked up his dead mother in arms and moved around for assistance, which was not available, said sources.
As usual the MGMMCH administration tried to shift their responsibility by saying there was lack of manpower and resources.
Sources said after much hue and cry three vehicles were procured by the hospital authorities to ferry sick and dead but due to lack of maintenance they are just rotting on the campus.
Notably, local BJP MLA Saryu Rai had time-to-time visited the hospital and raised demands of putting things in order at the state-run hospital but nothing much has changed over the years.
Congress too under the leadership of their state chief Ajoy Kumar sat on dharna outside the hospital demanding that ailing services at the hospital should be immediately corrected.
It may be mentioned here that when the boy was carrying her mother’s body in his arms, not a single party functionary was available to help him.
