KANPUR: As many as 13 students of a public school in
Unnao district fell sick after being administered rubella (
measles)
vaccine on Monday. The children were rushed to the district hospital soon after the vaccination when they complained of nausea,
fever, stomach ache and vomiting.
CMO, Unnao, Dr Lalta Prasad and other health officials visited St Peters School and asked the district hospitalauthorities to take stock of the situation.
The CMO said five students are still undergoing treatment while eightwere discharged. He said there was no need to panic as the common side effects such asfever, rashes, nausea and dizziness could occur in some casesfollowing such vaccination. Children often fell sick due to anxietywhich may lead to vomiting, he added.
