Depressed over short height, girl ends life

A 20-year-old girl allegedly hanged herself as she was depressed for being short in height.The incident took place in Chanehra locality under Kotwali police station of Banda district on late Tuesday night.

KANPUR: A 20-year-old girl allegedly hanged herself as she was depressed for being short in height. The incident took place in Chanehra locality under Kotwali police station of Banda district on late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rimi Khare, daughter of Satish Khare, resident of Chanehra. She was pursuing M.A. (first year) from a local degree college.
The incident came to light when her mother Kamlesh visited her room during early hours of Wednesday and found her daughter hanging from the ceiling.
She raised alarm following which other family members arrived and brought her body down. They rushed her to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. The family members thereafter informed the police about the incident. The police rushed to the spot, and shifted her body to morgue for the postmortem examination.
"She was depressed because of her short height. She was just 4.5 feet in height," said her father Satish.
ASP Lal Bharat Kumar Pal said the body has been sent for the postmortem examination. No suicide note was found from her room, he added.
