KANPUR: District magistrate Vijay Vishwas Pant on Saturday asked officials to complete preparations for President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Kanpur by November 26.
The President is scheduled to attend three programmes at Kanpur University, Kanpur Municipal Corporation and PSIT Institute on November 30.
Holding a meeting to review preparations, Pant said public works department (PWD), Kesco, municipal corporation, Jal Nigam, fire brigade and organisers had been issued necessary directions.

He said the President would attend three programmes in the city and officials had been assigned duties. “Officials and employees should get their duty pass from the city magistrate’s office. Without pass, no one will be allowed to enter the premises,” he said.
IG Police (zone) Mohit Agarwal said adequate police force had been deployed. “Aero state camera will be used for rooftop and aerospace vigil. At three venues, 9 ASP rank IPS, 16 ASP, 60 DySP, 2,400 non-gazetted officers, 10 PAC battalions, two squads of paramilitary force, anti-bomb squad and drones will be pressed into service.
As per the schedule of the President’s visit, his aircraft would land at Chakeri airport from where he will move to PSIT in a chopper. Thereafter, he will reach Kanpur University and later visit municipal corporation’s officer where he will be felicitated.

In another development, the district administration has provided relief to the Sikh community by allowing people to attend ‘langar’ on the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur on November 30, barring between 1.30pm and 5pm.
Earlier, the district administration had cancelled permissions granted for functions on November 29 and 30.
The relaxation was made after the members of Guru Singh Sabha met district magistrate, ADM (city) Vivek Srivastava and municipal commissioner Akshay Tripathi.
Officials decided that though ‘langar’ would be allowed, entry to Motijheel would remain prohibited from 1.30-5.00 pm.
Kanpur police have made elaborate security arrangements for visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to the city on November 30.
