KANPUR: District administration has made necessary arrangements at all Eidgahs of the city including the Badi Eidgah at Benajabhar and mosques, where namaz would be offered on
Eid-ul-Fitr festival to be celebrated on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that district magistrate Vijay Vishwas Pant had directed officials of the
Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) to make necessary arrangements at all Eidgahs, including Badi Eidgah, Rail Bazar Eidgah, Bagahi Eidgah (Babupurwa) and Shujatganj Eidgah where large number of Muslims offer namaz every year.
He said in view of rain forecast by the Met department, the KMC should ensure that no waterlogging takes place in case of rains. Extra teams should be deployed in KMC's all six zones and the control room, and that no animal should be allowed to enter Eidgahs during namaz, he said.
SSP Anant Deo, who was also present in the meeting, said that like previous years, traffic curbs would be imposed on roads leading to the Eidgahs, and the traffic would be diverted to other routes. Orders have been issued to the police department to install CCTV cameras and drones to keep a vigil, the SSP added.
The DM, who later visited Babupurwa Eidgah, directed the officials to cover all open manholes as they could prove dangerous in case of waterlogging. He directed the additional municipal commissioner to inspect the area and cover all open manholes today itself and inform him accordingly.
