KANPUR: Four passengers, who had got off the stationary Muzaffarnagar-Bandra Avadh Express for some
fresh air, were run over by
Sealdah Rajdhani Express at
Etawah's Balrai railway station on Monday morning.
"The victims, who had boarded the Avadh Express at Kanpur in a general coach, alighted the train and were heading towards a sleeper coach. When they were walking on the main line at Balrai railway station, they were ran over by Rajdhani Express," said a GRP officer.
The Rajdhani Exp was heading towards Delhi while Avadh Express was going to Bandra terminus of Mumbai.
Kamla Shankar, acting in charge of Etawah GRP, said the four deceased were natives of Jugrajpur, Kaushambi.
"They have been identified as Abhishek Kumar alias Jeetu (20), Lal Chandra (21), Surendra Kumar (20) and Pintu (18). They were all relatives and going to work in Surat by Avadh Express," said Kamla Shankar, acting in charge of Etawah GRP.
Meanwhile, the Railways has ordered a probe into the incident. CM
Yogi Adityanath directed the administration to ensure all possible help to the victims' families.
