KANPUR: A meeting of different government departments with regard to the Kanpur Metro project will be held in the state capital on August 20. The meeting, to be chaired by Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Planning department, UP government, Deepak Kumar, is aimed at resolving issues of acquiring land from different government institutions for Kanpur Metro.
Land from different government institutions has to be transferred for Kanpur Metro project.
Kanpur Development Authority (KDA), which is the nodal agency for Kanpur Metro, is yet to get an NoC for land transfer from National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI).
"Land transfer issues, receiving of NoC from government departments and other related issues are likely to be discussed during the meeting so that a conclusion could be reached", said a KDA official.
In the first phase, Kanpur Metro will run between IIT and Motijheel in Swaroop Nagar. On this route, nine metro stations will be constructed. In the meeting, authorities from government departments including representatives from GSVM medical college, which controls and operates LLR hospital, would be present.
GSVM authorities said they would once again tell the state government that though they would suffer a significant loss of infrastructure due to the Kanpur Metro project, they were ready to cooperate. While KDA officials said they have already told GSVM medical college administration that the metro alignment has been finalised and it cannot be changed now, the latter said they would emphasize that minimum loss be caused to the college and LLR hospital's infrastructure.
