KANPUR: Chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi on Wednesday said the BJP government in UP inherited poor law and order from previous governments but the police were working to improve the situation.
“More than 1,200 criminals have been sent to jail since the BJP government assumed office in the state.
Police are working in their own style to establish the rule of law which is a priority of my government.

The situation has come to such an extent that investors are heading towards UP, while criminals are scurrying for cover and leaving the state or preferring to stay in jail,” said Yogi while addressing a public meeting at Brijendra Swaroop Park here in support of BJP’s mayoral and corporator candidates.
It was CM’s second stop after Ayodhya, where he had addressed a meeting on Tuesday. The CM said various ventures in the state are reeling under huge debt burden of over Rs 19,000 crores which was caused by SP and BSP governments.
“The government will organise an investors’ meet in February to attract investment in the state. To give a conducive atmosphere to the investors, we are in the process of making UP a crime-free state,” he said. He appealed to the people to vote for BJP candidates to carry forward the journey of development. “BJP is needed to be voted in the civic polls too for proper use of funds allocated for development by state and Centre,” he said.
Yogi also held responsible the previous SP and BSP governments for “destroying the potential of the industrial city, Kanpur”. “For developing smart cities, you will have to vote for BJP candidates,” the CM said
