The toll climbed to 13 on Sunday. While seven persons died in Kanpur, six others died in neighbouring Kanpur Dehat district after consuming spurious liquor since Saturday, police said.

The village of Madhauli, situated near Delhi-Howrah route, tells the story of poverty and unemployment.
About 400-500 people from the village go catch a train to Kanpur in search of work from here everyday.
After a day's hard work, the labourers often buy liquor from a shop in the village.
But due to the delayed passenger trains on Saturday, many people could not buy alcohol and their life was saved.
