KANPUR: The death toll in the
Kanpur hooch tragedy could have been much higher if not for some delayed trains.
According to a report published in Navbharat Times, many people, mainly labourers could not buy liquor that day as the trains they were travelling in could not reach Kanpur on time.

The village of
Madhauli, situated near Delhi-Howrah route, tells the story of poverty and unemployment.
About 400-500 people from the village go catch a train to Kanpur in search of work from here everyday.
After a day's hard work, the labourers often buy liquor from a shop in the village.
But due to the delayed passenger trains on Saturday, many people could not buy alcohol and their life was saved.
