Kanpur: Man jumps before train after wife and son’s ‘suicide’

KANPUR: After a woman, along with her minor son, had committed suicide by setting themselves on fire, her husband too took the extreme step and allegedly jumped before a moving train in Mahoba district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Bhaiyya Lal Prajapati (30), his wife Lalita (25) and their son Rohan (7). Bhaiyya Lal has been working in a crusher unit in Kabrai town for the past several years.He, his wife Lalita and son Rohan were living at Subhash nagar locality in Kabrai town of the district.
ASP, Veerendra Kumar, said on that on Thursday morning, Bhaiyya Lal had quarreled with his wife over some issue. Late in the evening, Lalita and Rohan’s bodies were recovered in a charred state from the house.
Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem. As soon as Bhaiyya Lal came to know about the death of his wife and son, he reached Kabrai railway crossing and jumped before a train. He died on the spot. Police sent his body to morgue.
“Going by the preliminary findings, it seems the woman and her minor son had committed suicide, but we are trying to knit in the sequence of incidents to ascertain facts that led to three deaths. We have taken statements of the family members of Bhaiyya Lal and Lalita’s parents, native of Hamirpur” the ASP said.
