Showers, hailstorm lash Kanpur, temperature falls

KANPUR: Light to medium showers accompanied with gusty winds on late Tuesday night brought back chill in the air in the city. Some places of the city also witnessed hailstorm.
The change in the weather is likely to remain till January 26.
Denizens woke up to the sound of the rainfall accompanied with strong winds. The rain started at about 2.30am and the intermittent showers continued till morning hours on Wednesday.
According to the Met department of CSA university, more rains are in offing till Republic Day on January 26. Also, fog may descend on the city which would affect the visibility. The rainfall led to a fall in temperature. Maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 21.4 degree Celsius. Wednesday afternoon remained partially cloudy. People felt chill due to icy winds blowing at a speed of 5.3km/hour
The change in weather was welcome after rise in day teperature in past days due to clear sky and bright sunshine. The minimum temperature on Tuesday was 14.6 degree Celsius while day temperature was 23.2 degrees. On Monday night, the minimum temperature recorded was 13.4 degree celsius and day temperature was 25.6 degrees Celsius. The night temperature was thus, much above the normal value during the past two nights. Sunday was the hottest with day temperature recorded at 26.4 degrees.
