KANPUR: A hunt has been launched for a BTech student who sent threat emails to his college, saying he would blow up the building with RDX, because he was not promised placement overseas.
The emails, sent on April 7 and April 21, came to light after the management of the private technical institute at Rooma under Maharajpur police station in Kanpur Dehat met SSP Anant Deo on Saturday and sought his help.

Police have identified the email sender as a final-year student and a native of Siwan district in Bihar. Preliminary probe reveals that the youth received job offers from various companies during campus placement held recently. But, citing poor pay package, he refused them all.
“He wanted the college management to guarantee him placement overseas. When he didn’t receive any such assurance, he sent the emails threatening to blow up the institute with RDX. He also asked the college to return his marksheets and certificates,” Maharajpur inspector Mukesh Solanki told TOI.
The officer added that police had got in touch with the student’s family in Siwan and his parents were expected to come to Kanpur by Tuesday.
