Truckload of cattle bones seized, Bajrang Dal activists create ruckus
KANPUR: Scores of Bajrang Dal (BD) activists created ruckus in Bhaunti area of Panki in the city on Monday evening following recovery of huge quantity of bones of cattle from a truck on Monday evening.
Police said the truck was found parked near Bhaunti. As the foul smell was emanating from the truck, someone tipped off local Bajrang Dal activists. A large number of Bajrang Dal activists soon arrived at the spot and took the truck to Panki police station, where they demanded filing of FIR against the culprits.

The police pacified the activists saying that samples of the bones will be first sent for laboratory testing by the veterinary department team. Later, veterinary doctors were called to confirm whether the carcasses were that of cows, oxen or buffaloes or any other animal.
The police, meanwhile, detained the truck driver for questioning.
SHO Panki Shesh Narain Pandey said, “As per the truck driver, the carcasses were that of dead animals and he was taking the consignment from Jhansi to a factory in Unnao. We have asked a contractor, who had hired the truck for transportation of cattle bones, to reach police station and assist us in investigation.”
Pandey added he has apprised his seniors and now a veterinary team will collect samples to corroborate the facts. “Report will confirm how many of them were oxen and cows or buffaloes.”

Bajrang Dal members said when they received the tip-off about the truck, they were told that it was going toward Unnao industrial area. “Seeing the quantity of carcasses, it seems a good number of cattle must have been slaughtered. Bones are sold at high prices since they are used in various industries,” they said preferring anonymity.
