We have registered an FIR in this case under section 376 of IPC and launched an investigation. We are probing the matter from all angles. The medical report of the woman is awaited. Currently she is under treatment at the district hospital. We are yet to make an arrest. The case will be worked out soon,” the SP added.

A police officer at Kotwali police station said that the family of the survivor has been informed. While some of her family members from Hamirpur have reached Unnao district hospital, those from Ahmedabad are yet to reach.
He said that woman’s family members would be questioned to know what made her leave home in Ahmedabad and also to ascertain the identity of the accused who are known to the survivor.
The matter came to light on Wednesday afternoon when passersby informed Unnao police about a woman lying in a semi-unconscious state.
