KOTTAYAM: Kerala Congress(M) acting chairman P J Joseph is yet to join the campaign of UDF candidate in Pala Jose Tom Pulikkunnel.
Joseph and his supporters were expected to begin campaigning for the candidate along with the UDF on Thursday after the alliance leadership had pacified the leader, who had threatened to launch a separate campaign. District president of the Joseph faction Saji Manjakadambil informed that the decision regarding this will be made after holding the constituency-level meeting of the party.
The UDF sub-committee, headed by convener Benny Behanan, had met here on Tuesday and assured Joseph that he will not have to face any unpleasant actions from the supporters of Jose K Mani during the election campaign.
After the meeting, MLA Monce Joseph of the Joseph group had said that the group will take the decision regarding a joint campaign with the UDF instead of a separate one. However, Joseph left the decision to the Pala
constituency committee of the party.
The Jose group is looking at this situation as an opportunity to prove that their candidate can win in Pala without the support of Joseph.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretary
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who was in Pala on Thursday, opined that the two rival groups in KC(M) will part ways soon.
