Kolhapur: Gandhinagar police have established involvement of three men in a case of theft that took place on Thursday evening at a sari shop located in Gandhinagar garment market.
The suspect fled with two bags containing cash worth Rs 16 lakh which the shopkeeper had kept on the counter inside the shop.
According to Gandhinagar police, the theft took place at around 8.30pm and the shopkeeper Suresh Jethanand Jevrani (43) of Tarabai Park came to know about it later in the night.

A police team comprising of assistant inspector Sushant Chavan of Gandhinagar police station rushed to the spot. The team has launched a hunt for the suspects involved in the theft.
According to the FIR, a man walked into the shop at around 8.30pm after the shopkeeper left the bag unattended on the counter.
Chavan told TOI that the shopkeeper had filled the cash, which was collected in the last three to four days, in two bags. The shopkeeper had intended to deposit the same in the bank.
In meantime, a man wearing a violet coloured shirt entered the shop and picked up the two bags and ran outside the shop.

The police have recovered the CCTV footage from several cameras in the market and has found out that the suspect, who picked up the bags from the shop, was accompanied by the two other men who were waiting outside the shop on a motorcycle. The suspect had rushed outside the shop and fled on the motorcycle.
Chavan said that police are studying grabs and are ascertaining the registration number of the vehicle. “We will soon nab them,” he said.
Jevrani told police that he left the bag unattended for few minutes and went outside the shop to pick up his dinner box when the incident took place.
Police sources told TOI that the suspects had plotted the crime and had studied the functioning of the shopkeeper for few days. The bag lifter waited outside the shop for long before rushing inside the shop to pick up the bags.
