Kolkata: 26-year-old found murdered at home

A 26-year-old man, owner of a popular momo shop near Mudiali in Tollygunge, was found murdered inside his residence at Bijoygarh in Jadavpur on Thursday.

KOLKATA: A 26-year-old man, owner of a popular momo shop near Mudiali in Tollygunge, was found murdered inside his residence at Bijoygarh in Jadavpur on Thursday.
Police said Surojit Kole was found dead with severe head injuries. His mother had been sleeping in the adjoining room when he was allegedly killed. Police suspect Kole was hit with a boti while he was sleeping.

Cops said Sandip Sarkar, who was employed at the shop on a salary of Rs 7,000 was present in the victim’s house at the time. He has since gone missing. “At present, he is the main suspect,” said Praveen Tripathi, joint CP (crime).
According to the police, the victim’s mother had woken up to a groan and found her son lying in a pool of blood. When she tried to run out of the house to call for help, she found the door locked from outside. She called Sarkar, who was sleeping in the verandah, but there was no response. The police rushed Kole to MR Bangur Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The Jadavpur police have registered a murder case. Cops are using CCTV footage and taking down the statements of some employees at the victim’s shop to investigate the case.
