Bengal BJP’s tea-connect in dists from Sept
Kolkata: Bengal BJP is taking the tea route to connect with people. State leaders will hold “cha chakra” in the districts from September, taking the cue from PM Narendra Modi’s “chai pe charcha” campaign.
The aim is to engage with people and boost membership in a few districts in south Bengal where BJP is short of target. Kolkata is among the focus areas.
But BJP hasn’t engaged any professional like Trinamool Congress has done to launch ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ campaign.
Bengal BJP has, till date, registered 77 lakh members against its target of 1 crore, hitting hurdles in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas.
“Some districts like Jalpaiguri have over-achieved the target, while some are lagging behind. Violence and intimidation by ruling TMC have created fear among people,” state BJP president Dilip Ghosh said.
