As the Central and state governments allow phase-wise relaxation in curbs to get the life up and running again following over two months of lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we bring you the latest updates from your city.
Truck movement in Kolkata has returned to the 10pm-8am routine. During lockdown, Kolkata traffic police had allowed the entry of trucks throughout the day to ease movement of essential supplies.

*A majority of auto operators across Kolkata continued to ply with two passengers on Wednesday, even though the transport department had allowed autos to ply with 3+1 seating on Tuesday.
*The anti-Covid squad of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has shifted its focus back on city’s markets that are witnessing a crowd surge in Unlock 1.0 and may have had a direct bearing on the increased corona cases.

*Update at 9.35am: Meghalaya's tally of Covid-19 cases rises to 33 after 2 more persons who recently returned from other states tested positive for the infection: CM Conrad Sangma (PTI)
*Update at 9.16am: India reports 9,304 new Covid-19 cases & 260 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases in the country now at 2,16,919 including 1,06,737 active cases, 1,04,107 cured/discharged/migrated and 6,075 deaths: Ministry of health and family welfare (ANI)

*Kolkata’s tipplers will soon be able to order their favourite drinks from the comfort of their homes, after four platforms — a couple of the biggest food delivery services, a specialised liquor delivery service and a retail chain — signed an agreement with Bevco (West Bengal State Beverage Corporation), the state’s wholesale and distribution arm, for starting doorstep delivery.
*Swiggy and Zomato, the app- and web-based delivery platforms already popular in the city, expect to launch services very soon, maybe as early as on Thursday. According to sources, they have started ground work and are starting a “dry run” in Kolkata, Siliguri and other prominent district towns.
*The two-month lockdown that saw Kolkata hospitals retreat into a Covid-induced shell may have resulted in scores lose their battle against the Bigger C — cancer. With surgeries suspended and chemotherapy turning irregular, many who were still in the early stages of the terminal illness two months ago but had a forced break in treatment have now progressed to the later stages with a reduced chance of recovery, say doctors.
*Doctors specialized in eye and dental care are at a higher risk of getting infected by Covid-19 while attending patients or conducting a surgical procedure.
