KOLKATA: Question paper "leak" seems to have become the norm for Madhyamik exams this year.
For the fourth day in a row, the question paper - this time, that of geography - surfaced on a social networking app on Saturday, within an hour of the exam starting off. "On Saturday, within an hour of the geography paper starting around noon, almost every page of the question paper could be found doing the rounds on the social media.
The matter has been reported to Madhyamik board officials," an office bearer of a teachers' organization said.
The West Bengal Secondary Education Board, however, refused to term it a "leak" and decided to allow the Bidhanagar cyber security cell to do the needful. "A preliminary report was handed to education minister Partha Chatterjee by Madhyamik Parshad president Kalyanmoy Ganguly on the very first day when allegations were levelled against the board," said a higher education official.
Similar allegations of question papers being found on social media were made for the last three papers - English, Bengali and history - as well. After the history paper was found circulating on WhatsApp within 20 minutes of the exam starting, several teachers' organisations demanded a redress from the government. Many believed the papers could be seen on social networking sites while the exams were on because of the board's failure to take proper security measures.
