The Calcutta High Court today quashed 12 cases against BJP leader and former railway minister Mukul Roy in the cash-for-job scam in the railways.
KOLKATA: The Calcutta high court on Friday quashed 12 cases against BJP leader and former railway minister Mukul Roy in the cash-for-job scam in the railways.
Roy's counsel claimed that the allegations were not substantiated and absurd in nature.
It was also stated before the court that though the complaints claimed that the alleged incidents of cash for job took place in 2012, the complainants had filed the criminal cases only this year.

Roy's counsel Subhasish Dasgupta stated that there was no plausible explanation on part of the complainants for the delay of six years to make the allegations.
The West Bengal government, however, opposed the prayer for quashing of cases against Roy.
Hearing both the parties, Justice Shivakant Prasad rejected the 12 cases filed against Roy.
Out of the 12 cases, 10 case were filed at Bijpur police station and one each at Naihati and Noapara in North 24 Parganas district.
A former Trinamool Congress leader, Roy was the railway minister in 2012.
