Kolkata: Government school to come up in New Town
KOLKATA: The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) has handed over a two-acre plot identified in New Town’s action area I area to the state school education department to set up a government school from pre-primary stage to higher secondary level.
Officials said that it is yet to be decided who will construct the school building. However, Hidco’s planning wing has already taken up necessary steps for drawing the architectural design of the school building.
“It has been decided that Hidco’s engineering wing will construct the boundary wall for the school premises. A target of 2021 has been set for classes to start in the school.
Apart from the school building project, Hidco has also taken up drawing the architectural design for a government health centre near the New Town Business Club where a plot has been identified. The state health department has already placed Rs 22.5 lakh to meet the preliminary expenses to the North 24 Paraganas district health authority.
A government health clinic has been already operating near the Biswa Bangla convention centre since last year.
