KOLKATA: Light to
moderate rain will continue to keep mercury down in Kolkata. A low pressure system over coastal Odhisa will continue bringing rain in Kolkata and some districts of South Bengal. The
Met office predicted light to moderate rain on Sunday and Monday.
“The weather will remain more or less the same. The sky will remain overcast with some intense showers in some areas of the city.
Overall the city will get light to moderate rain today and tomorrow as well,” said GK Das, director (weather) at
Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.
On Saturday some pockets in the southern part of the city were lashed by sharp shower while there was light rain in northern parts of the city. According to Met office, the prevailing low pressure system is not directly over the state, and hence the pattern of rain it triggered was uneven.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was 33.1 degree Celsius, one notch above the normal. It is likely to drop and retreat slightly below the normal mark. Places in districts including Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia and Bankura are expected to get heavier rain.
