KOLKATA: Cops swung into action as youths on bikes and armchair warriors on the social media started spreading provocative messages over the terror attack on CRPF jawans at Pulwama.
While some wanted a rude revenge on Pakistan, a few did the rounds on bikes from Mallik Phatak to Dumurjola in Howrah late in the night on Friday giving "Pakistan zindabad" slogans. Howrah Police have detained some of them.
A worker at the Chandernagore Jute Mills in Hooghly was rounded up for giving slogans in support of Pakistan.
A similar incident was reported from the Shyamnagar Jute Mills in Hooghly. Police have also rounded up Jadavpur University student Debjit Bhattacharya for making a Facebook post pointing to the killings of more than 300 Kashmiri people.
But, these are no match for the unending war on the social media. Those sounding discordant note are being abused and in some cases, such as the one at Birati in North 24 Parganas, miscreants ransacked the house of a woman for making "objectionable" posts.
