KOLKATA: The family of Farhana Islam Tania — one of the two Bangladeshi nationals who were killed in the Saturday-morning accident — hopes for speedy delivery of justice in the case.
The family is following the developments closely. “We were unaware that a person other than Arsalan Parwez was driving the car,” a member of the family said on Wednesday.
“We came to know from the media that someone else was driving the car.
We were clueless about it. Most of the news we are getting is from the media. We have faith on the law and order system in India,” said Abdur Rashid Palash, Tania’s uncle.
According to Palash, Kazi Safi Rahmatullah — the lone survivor from the group of the Bangladeshis — was the first one to call them over phone on Saturday morning, informing the family of Tania’s death
Meanwhile, Kolkata Police is yet to get in touch with Rahmatullah. Sources in Bangladesh Deputy High Commission indicated that they are unaware of any request to have his statement recorded.
