LUCKNOW: A partly cloudy sky and a dust storm likely on Wednesday can bring relief from the intense heat and sultry conditions prevailing for the past five days in the city. There are also possibilities of a thunderstorm.
The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 42.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, and minimum temperature was 28.6 degrees Celsius, two points above normal.
Muggy conditions due to high relative humidity - between 40% and 65% - made life difficult for people.
State Met director JP Gupta said hot and humid conditions will prevail during the day on Wednesday with maximum temperature around 42 degrees Celsius. However, the sky is expected to turn partly cloudy towards the afternoon. Gusty winds will prevail during the day and a dust storm/thunderstorm with winds measuring 40-50km per hour may also hit the city in the afternoon or in the evening.
Met officials said hot conditions in the city are because of clear sky and severe heat wave prevailing in other parts of the state. However, there is also a component of moisture-laden easterly winds that have raised humidity levels, making conditions highly uncomfortable for people. The relief from dust/thunderstorm expected on Wednesday would not last long and the weather would be hot and humid again from Thursday.
